W’boro hires new Police Chief

Alejandro "Alex" Coss

On Tuesday, March 5, the Whitesboro City Council took a unanimous vote to hire a new Police Chief.

The vote came after nearly 90 minutes in executive session and Alejandro Coss was named the Whitesboro Police Department’s new Police Chief. This comes after months of receiving multiple applications from interested candidates for the position.

Coss said he is originally from San Antonio and joined the U.S. Navy right after graduating from high school. He was later recruited by the Dallas Police Department where he served for a little over 18 years.

Coss said after some time, he was able to accept the position of Police Chief for the Justin Police Department in Justin, Texas, where he served for more than five years.

“I feel very fortunate to have this experience and I’m excited to get started and start making a difference,” Coss said.

Coss plans on relocating to Whitesboro with his wife. He will officially begin his position as Police Chief on Monday, March 6.

Coss replaces longtime Chief Scott Taylor who was fired from the position in December.
