1933-2024
Wayne Clay "Red" McCorkle
Wayne Clay “Red” McCorkle, 91, of Collinsville, Texas was called home to a glorious reunion in heaven on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
Red was born on September 4, 1933 in Woodbine, Texas to Henry Clay and Lucille Irene (Underwood) McCorkle. He graduated from high school in Collinsville and married Shirley Jean Boren on April 16, 1953. Red enjoyed being outdoors and used that in his life’s work as a dairy farmer and contractor for building projects.
He also enjoyed playing dominos, he never missed any of the sporting events for Collinsville and being the Mayor of Collinsville was a big highlight in his life. But Red truly loved Christmas and he showcased his love of the holiday and its meaning in his larger-than-life displays at his home each year, this display was so big, so bright and beautiful that it was viewable from airplanes passing over Collinsville at night.
His greatest love in life was his family, he loved and adored each one of them, never missing a birthday even up until the time of his passing. Red was a truly remarkable man and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Worthington and husband, Gary of Collinsville; daughter, Pam Hanning and husband, Rick of Yantis, TX; daughter, Kathy Patterson and husband, Gary of Collinsville; son, Tracy McCorkle of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Chanse and Ryan Molsbee, Zachary and Amelia Worthington, Lacey and Preston Patterson, Scott Hanning, Aaron Hanning, Ryan and Carin Patterson, Luke and Erin Patterson, Eric and Jamie Patterson, Kacy and Ashley McCorkle; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin, Keaston, Decker, Kyler, Walker, Jentrie, Trey, Riley, Ashton, Drew, Hayden, Dylan, Austin, Madelyn, Lana, Rain, Rys, and Clay; brother, Lewis McCorkle; and sister, Joann Taylor; dear friend, Francis Russell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Wayne and Shirley McCorkle Memorial Scholarship fund at Independent Bank in Collinsville.
