Funeral services for Deloris Jean Bertino, 91, were held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 12 at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas, with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. 
Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery.  A time of visitation for family and friends was held on Wednesday, September 11, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.

Deloris passed away peacefully on September 5th at Just Like Home in Whitesboro, Texas.

She was born in Decatur, Illinois on November 1, 1932 to Auburn Jacob and Hazel Deloris Ellis.  

She graduated from Decatur High School and enrolled in Nursing School.  She attended Macon County Hospital School of Nursing in Decatur, Illinois.  

Deloris met her husband, Joe Lawrence Bertino, an Air Force Technical trainer, and they were married on February 21, 1953.  She graduated Nursing School in 1953.

Deloris began her career in Rantoul, Illinois as a nurse while her husband was in the Air Force.  In 1955 she moved to Texas with her husband, and she received her license in Texas to be a Registered Nurse.  She was a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas.  In 1958 she moved to Stoneburg, Texas with her husband and children.  Joe and Deloris moved to Whitesboro, Texas in 1968.  In 1972 she became the school nurse for Whitesboro ISD, S&S Consolidated and Collinsville ISD for 15 years, she then became the full-time nurse for Whitesboro ISD until her retirement.  She was a school nurse for 28 years.

After retirement, she was actively involved in the West Grayson County Retirement Association.  She was also an active member of First Baptist Church and participated monthly in TNT group activities.

Her hobbies included collecting nurse dolls, traveling in the US and abroad, and TNT trips with the church.  Deloris and Joe went on many cruises together, including a few family cruises, going to A&M football games, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Dr. David Bertino and wife, Dianne of Whitesboro; daughters, Donna White of Houston; Diana Bonin and husband, Michael of College Station; Debra Harris and husband, Nicholas of Houston, and Darla Bertino of Waco; She has 12 grandchildren, Stacy Gomez and husband Eric, Matthew White and wife, Veronica, Michelle Mille and husband, Nobel, Patrick Bertino, Renee Bonin, Kevin Bonin, Kyle Bonin and wife, Chelsea, Robyn Goelz and husband, Patrick, Elise Harris and husband, Michael, Rachel Harris, Anthony Harris and wife, Kelsey, and Matt Carpenter and wife, Jayme, 7 great-grandchildren, Morgan Gasper, Mason Gasper, Aaron White, Ariel White, Brooks Goelz, Landon Carpenter, and Piper Carpenter, brother, David Ellis and wife, Sonja.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe Bertino, and brother, Edward.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Patrick Bertino, Matthew White, Kevin Bonin, Anthony Harris, Patrick Goelz, and Matt Carpenter, honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Bonin and Michael Caplin.

Deloris was well loved by many and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to First Baptist Church of Whitesboro or the West Grayson County Retired School Personnel Association Scholarship Fund.
