Mary Lee Grigar Brown, 82, passed into heaven on May 9, 2024 in Whitesboro, Texas after a long journey with Parkinson’s with Lewy Body dementia.
Mary was born on August 29, 1941 in Truscott, Texas to James Newton Bryant and Flossie Opal Davidson Bryant.
She graduated from O’Brien High School in 1959 and married John Anton Grigar in San Angelo, Texas on September 10, 1960 and remained married for 26 years until his death in 1986.
Mary married Roy Gene Brown in McKinney, Texas on February 14, 1997 and remained married for 19 years until his death in 2016. During Mary’s life she was a homemaker, worked in accounting for Gibson’s and then Harris Corp until she retired.
She then became a bus driver for Mesquite ISD. She loved God, her family and friends.
She was an active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Mesquite, a Red Hatter, loved to travel, crochet, bowl and garden.
Mary is survived by her children Betsy Cook (Chris), James Grigar (Leslie), Sean Grigar, Janna Huff, Joy Allen and Scott Brown; grandchildren Jess Quinlin-Park (Ivan), Joel Cook, Greg Grigar (Brittany), James Grigar II (Ashley), Breanna Grigar, Tyler Malone, Brian Huff, Brittany Yarbrough (Mickey), Jason Mangrum (Amanda), Justin Mangrum (Stephanie) and Katie Mosteller(Jason) and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, her sister, Betty Ann Hicks, and grandson, Trevor John Cook.
Visitation, funeral and internment were held on Monday, May 13, at Grove Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park with Edward Duane Cook Jr. officiating.
