Betty Lou Stone, 82, of Whitesboro, Texas was called to her eternal home on Monday, April 22, 2024.
Betty was born on January 3, 1942 in Ruston, Louisiana to Loyce and Jewel (Weaver) Kees. She married Dalton Ray Stone on July 20, 1957 in Decatur, Texas.
Betty and her husband moved to Whitesboro in 1978 and, with Dalton’s brother Don and his wife Carol, they began Don’s Barbeque in downtown Dixie.
She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and working in her flower gardens.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Sartain; daughter, Sharon Vannucci and husband, Joe; daughter, Debbie Stone and husband, Glen Gregor; daughter, Diane Newton and husband, Russel; daughter, Amy Collins and husband, Mac; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dalton Stone; parents, Loyce and Jewel Kees; and grandson, Jonathan Newton.
Pallbearers will be Joe Vannucci, Michael Vannucci, Glen Gregor, Dalton Gregor, Russel Newton, Mac Collins, Billy Wolf, Cody Wolf and Corbin Wolf.
A private family graveside service honoring Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Oakwood Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Rick Carney. A time of visitation for family and friends was held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
