Johnny Barnes

Johnny Eugene Barnes was called to be with the Lord on March 28, 2024.

Johnny was born January 19, 1940 in Whitesboro, Texas, to Elmer and Ruth (Irvan) Barnes. He attended Whitesboro schools and graduated in 1959. 

Johnny loved sports and played many throughout high school. He worked in construction until he and his brother Jerry opened Barnes Brothers Feed store in 1974. Together they ran this business for over 30 years and they loved visiting with all their customers. 

When Johnny and Jerry sold the feed store, Johnny started Barnes Liquid Feed until he retired and he and his wife Vicki continued to run their business E 82 Storage. Johnny married his wife Vicki in 1994. 

Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, pool, a good game of cards, telling stories, and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved mowing, gardening and giving to people who needed it most. 

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Cecil Adams, and brother Bob Barnes. 

Johnny is survived by his wife, Vicki Barnes; daughter, Juli Metzler and husband Phillip; daughter, Blakely McGee and husband Clint; and son, Chris Hughes; brother, Jerry Barnes and wife Judy; brother, Kenneth Barnes grandchildren, Dalton Metzler and wife Hannah, Luke and Jake Metzler, Bentley Hughes, Jackson Dedinsky, Parker and Kinly McGee; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Johnny will be at Cooke County Cowboy Church on April 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation following.
