Gracie Threadgill was born September 20, 1929 and passed away March 17, 2024. She lived an extraordinary life of 94 years. As a single parent in the ‘60s, she was a force of nature. At 4’9” and under 100 pounds, Grace was often referred to as “Sarge.” Her home was a favorite for many in the community; her friends were numerous.

In 1967, she went to work for Texas Instruments in Sherman, TX., where her group built silicon chips that were selected for the Apollo 11 moon landing. Grace moved to Dallas in 1971 and went to work for Neiman Marcus as a purchasing agent. Part of her job included operating the mainframe computer. She’s been an inspiration to her family and many friends.

Gracie was preceded in death by her parents Levi Eugene (Jack) Diggs and Lillian Pearl Hice; nine siblings: Opal Beatrice Thompson Hairrell, Uthur David Thompson, Kirby Jerome Thompson, Myrtle Louise Wilson, Virginia Irene Vaughn, Lillian Helen Sims, Dorothy Fugitt, Audrey Fay Austin, Mary Helen Allison; and her son, Jerry Threadgill II.
Survivors include her children Yvonne Cheri & Paul Ray Smith, Jerry & Terri Threadgill II, Treaon  & Eddie Kindiger, Carmen & Eddie Dewey and Deana & Toni Prince; grandchildren Jeremy Smith, Michelle & Gerald Taylor, Mistee & Chuck Reiter, Sundi & Shane Johnson, Jory & Jamie Threadgill, Jerry & Sheila Threadgill III, Courtney Threadgill, Chase & Jamie Threadgill, Josh & Toni Kindiger, Casey & Payal Kindiger, Chad & Maida Dewey, Lance Dewey, Derek & Morgan Dewey, Mandy & Jared Talley, Dawndi Harper and Cheyenne & Hunter Ikard; great-grandchildren Rylee & Tyler Walterscheid, Ryenne Reiter, Logan Sewell, Hugh “Jack” Greene, Ryder Johnson, Sayler Johnson, Maci Johnson, Holli & Nathan Moss, Kristy & Jeremy Miller, Halie Threadgill, Alyssa Threadgill, Blaze Threadgill, Caleb Threadgill, Kendyll Threadgill, Landon Threadgill, Mason Threadgill, Creed Threadgill, Rowan Threadgill, Keira Threadgill, Kenlee Threadgill, Braven Threadgill, Emory Threadgill, Cole Kindiger, Clay Kindiger, Carly Kindiger, Catie Kindiger, Arya Kindiger, Saheli Kindiger, Tarek Dewey, Nabila Dewey, Jayda Dewey, Jenna Dewey, Jewell Dewey, Dylan & Stormy Dewey, Skyler Dewey, Eddie Dewey, Bailey Dewey, Slayde Dewey, Emilyn Addison, Chandler Talley, Maycee Talley, Tayton McKenzie, and Cora Adams; and great-great-grandchildren Roman Duranona, Jacob Moss, Brooklynn Moss, Kaceston Miller, Adalynn Bethel, Zaelynn Bethel, Winter Dewey, Summer Dewey, Denver Ikard, Emma Ikard, and Elle Ikard.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.  A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Woodbine.
