Jimmy Wayne Perdue

Jimmy Wayne Perdue, 85 of Collinsville, Texas passed away on March 12, 2024 at his home after a prolonged illness. 

He was born Feb. 12, 1939 at Pottsboro, Texas to Fred Perdue, Sr. and Fannie (Cook) Perdue.  

He married Melba Hamm on Dec. 4, 1962.

Jimmy and Melba moved to Collinsville early in their marriage and built a life there together.

Jimmy loved to work, and it was his passion. He also served on the Collinsville City Council from 1987-1998 and he never missed little league game his kids played.

Jimmy was an independent trucker for over 50 years and an accomplished mechanic. 

He was known to his friends as the “Diesel Doctor.”  He never met a stranger, and he would help anyone with anything. 

Jimmy is remembered for his salt-of-the-earth demeanor and common-sense wisdom.

Jimmy was a husband of 61 years and a father of four children. His laugh was well known and he was always proud of his kids and all their accomplishments.

Jimmy’s greatest legacy are the ones he leaves behind. He was an advocate for the little man and cared deeply for those less fortunate. 

His positive outlook on life was infectious.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Melba Perdue of Collinsville, Texas; son, Josh Hamm and wife, Susannah of Anna, Texas; son, Randy Hamm and wife, Danielle of Valley View, Texas; daughter, Amanda Workman and husband, Timothy of Whitesboro, Texas; daughter, Amber Perdue of Collinsville, Texas; grandchildren, Nathan, Rainey, Levi, Wyatt, Breckyn; siblings, Fred Perdue, Jr., Maxine Arnold, Sherry Clark, Jerry Perdue, Sue Payne and Ricky Perdue; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Fred Perdue, Sr and Fannie Perdue.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 6-8 p.m,, at Meador Funeral Home, Whitesboro, Texas.  

The funeral service will be held on at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, also at Meador Funeral Home with Ricky Patterson officiating.   

Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Don Stuckey, Doug McBeth, Jr., Troy Weldon, Randy Woody, Todd Henry and Dorsey Jack Lewter.  

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Shebester, Ronny Reed, Layne Lewter, Dennis Palmer and Karo Denton.
