Otis Vernon Gibson, 85, of Whitesboro, Texas, was called to his eternal home on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Vernon was born on June 30, 1938 in Collinsville, Texas, to Russell Vernon and Alyne Ruth (Martin) Gibson. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School class of 1956. Vernon married Elizabeth Ann Morrow on June 5, 1959 in Whitesboro and they were married for 62 years prior to her passing in 2021.
Vernon was the service manager at Raney Ford for over 40 years and a volunteer with the Whitesboro Fire Department for 36 years. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Vernon cherished his family and loved the time he spent with them.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Whitten and husband, Mike of Whitesboro; son, Chris Gibson and wife, Tammy of Sanger; grandchildren, Justin Whitten, Ashleigh Whitten, Jesica Whitten and partner, JR Gonzalez, Brittany Gibson and fiancé, Chaz Gentry; great-grandchildren, Acey Elizabeth Cummings, and soon to be born, Arie Hoot Gentry; brother-in-law, Danny Smith and two nieces.
Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Gibson; parents, Russell and Alyne Gibson; and sister-in-law, LaDonna Smith.
Graveside services honoring Vernon will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Collinsville Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Rick Carney. Currently no formal visitation is scheduled.
