Phyllis Ann Petty

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Ann Petty, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She departed from this world on January 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering loyalty, steadfast determination and unquestionable grit.

Phyllis was born on May 16, 1960, in Gainesville, TX to parents Karen Farmer Melton and George Mac Melton. Phyllis loved her family and friends with a tenacious doggedness, epitomizing the sentiment that actions speak louder than words.

Her strong-willed nature and stubbornness were matched only by the depth of her love and commitment to those she held dear.

She stood firmly by her loved ones through thick and thin, never wavering in her support and dedication.  She was one to have on your side, and one to be feared if you opposed her loved ones.

Throughout her life, Phyllis faced her many health challenges head-on refusing to back down in the face of adversity. Her indomitable spirit and unyielding resilience were an inspiration to all who knew her.

She lived her life with a fiery resolve, embracing her convictions and standing up for what she believed in, and more importantly to her – who she believed in – no matter the cost.

Beyond her strong character, Phyllis was known for her fierce loyalty, her toughness, and her dedication to her family and friends. Her presence brought peace and comfort to those around her, and her memory will forever be cherished by the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her loving family, including her husband, Mark Petty, son, Brian and daughter-in-law, Emilie Petty, her grandsons, Nolan, Elijah, and Brooks Petty, her granddaughters, Gracie-Ann and Penny-Jane Petty, sister, Darla and brother-in-law, Royce Melton, her brothers, Kenneth Melton, and Jeff and sister-in-law, Waschika Melton,  father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jeral and Lois Petty, sister-in-law, Karla Womack, brother-in-law, Kendall and sister-in-law, Kathy Petty, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly.

The void left by her passing will be deeply felt, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’ life was held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Collinsville First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the charity she was most passionate about, St. Jude, in her honor.

Rest in peace, Phyllis. Your loyalty, strength, and love will never be forgotten.
