On Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Texas A&M Singing Cadets will perform for the public at the Kidd-Key Auditorium in Sherman (400 N. Elm Street). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 7 p.m.
Presented by the Grayson County A&M Club, the Singing Cadets performance is the organization’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds from ticket sales are donated to the Grayson County Aggie Moms group who provides annual scholarships to Grayson County kids heading to Texas A&M.
Dubbed “The Voice of Aggieland,” the Texas A&M Singing Cadets is a premier men’s chorus that has been entertaining audiences across the country for 130 years. Their repertoire ranges from hymns and barbershop to show tunes and modern-day hits.
Since their inception, the Singing Cadets have grown to receive national acclaim performing each year for more people than any other collegiate choral group in the United States. Audiences include U.S. presidents, foreign ambassadors and American congressmen and the group has performed in venues like Carnegie Hall and St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Three years ago, Jackson Hake (a member of Whitesboro’s 2021 State Champion Track Team) was a member of the Singing Cadets. His parents Jill and Mark Lancaster wanted to create an opportunity for their son’s group to perform close to home, and the Sherman performance was born. This marks the third year for this performance.
The Grayson County A&M Club is seeking sponsors to help support this event. For more information, please call Treasurer Stephanie Barnes at 972-567-5608. Tickets for the concert are just $10 per person (plus service fees). Enjoy an amazing performance while helping to support a worthy cause.
