On Dec. 7 from 8 a.m.-noon, staff from Southmayd Police and Fire Departments, Collinsville and CISD Police Departments, Tioga Police Department, S&S CISD, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Game Wardens will participate in the annual Shop with a Cop event.
In partnership with Ashten’s Compassion, 100 children nominated by local schools, churches and officers have been invited to join these law enforcement representatives for a shopping spree at the Wal-Mart in Sherman.
Children will receive packs of Pokemon cards (donated by Cards for Kids) and donated boxes of food items from Master Key for each child.
They will also receive meal gift certificates from Raising Canes and ice cream gift certificates from Culvers.
The Southmayd Police Department has been participating in Shop With a Cop since 2015. In its first year, the event was able to assist only eight kids. Since then, numbers have ranged from 20 to 241.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact and brighten the Christmas season for these kids,” Ashten’s Compassion founder Jasen Davis posted on social media.
Based in Sherman, Ashten’s Compassion is an organization dedicated to spreading love, kindness and compassion to children in need.
They provide essential resources and support for the community’s youth to help build a brighter and healthier future.
