Tonight the holidays officially begin in downtown Whitesboro with “Let It Snow,” a community event that attracts hundreds of people each year.

Presented by Keep Whitesboro Beautiful (KWB) and the City of Whitesboro, this annual celebration is a beloved tradition for area families and includes a variety of activities to kick off the holiday season.

Christmas music will begin playing downtown at 5 p.m. Then, at 5:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides around Main Street. The lighting of the Whitesboro Christmas tree will take place at 6 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., a Christmas parade down Main Street will feature a variety of vehicles wrapped with holiday lights and decorations. The parade concludes with the delivery of Santa Claus, who will then visit with children and hear all about their Christmas wishes. Be sure to bring your camera for some sweet photo opportunities.

At 7 p.m., a live nativity will take place at the corner of Center and Main Streets to remind visitors of the true reason for the season.

Downtown stores will be open late for holiday shoppers and, throughout the evening, vendors and businesses will be handing out free snacks and treats. All guests can receive a raffle ticket for a door prize gift drawing, which will take place at Cook’s Main Stage (behind Cook’s Mercantile) at 7:30 p.m. Gifts range from home décor and food items to toys and bicycles for kids and teens.

The evening may hold a few special surprises for guests of all ages. Everyone is encouraged to come kick off the holiday season with this entirely free, fun-filled evening of small-town charm.
