Whitesboro’s annual downtown Christmas event will be held Friday, Dec. 6. Presented by Keep Whitesboro Beautiful (KWB) and the City of Whitesboro, this year’s event theme is “Let It Snow.”

Festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. with Christmas music playing downtown. At 5:30 p.m., horse-drawn carriage rides will begin and the lighting of the downtown tree will take place at 6 p.m. The Christmas parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and delivers Santa Claus, who will visit with children to find out who’s been naughty and nice. A live nativity will begin at 7 p.m, at the corner of Center and Main Streets. At 7:30 p.m., attendees are welcome to visit Cook’s Main Stage for gift give-away door prize drawings.

Throughout downtown, vendors will offer treats, hot chocolate and cider, and many downtown storefronts will stay open late for Christmas shopping.

Last weekend, members of KWB met downtown to begin decorating for the holiday event. Snowmen and candy canes adorn the downtown median, welcoming folks to downtown.

Tuesday morning, city workers set up the city’s Christmas tree, which provides a light show that is synchronized to music that it plays.

The downtown event is a beloved tradition that draws hundreds of people each year. The event is free and all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
