On Thursday, Oct. 31, fifth graders at Whitesboro Intermediate School presented a Renaissance Wax Museum.
From 2-3 p.m., students and community members were invited to walk through the school’s gym and cafeteria where fifth graders portrayed historical figures from the Renaissance period.
Students had been studying this lesson for the past nine weeks. They each wrote a biography about their historical figure and presented their facts via a “wax museum,” posing as statues with signs depicting facts about their character. Some students dressed the part with elaborate costumes and props.
Characters ranged from Queen Elizabeth and Galileo to William Shakespeare and Leonardo da Vinci.
This was the first year for the wax museum, and teachers were pleased with the outcome. They’re hoping this becomes an annual event students (and the community) can look forward to each year.
