We need your help with holiday projects

Source: Vecteezy.com

The holidays are upon us. Jennifer seems to start Christmas decorating earlier each year.

The garland and trees are on full display at the Lewter house and it’s not even Thanksgiving yet.

I like to give her a hard time about the early start, but the spirit is contagious.

Likewise, the News-Record is gearing up for a busy holiday season and I wanted to let you know what to expect.

Send us your recipes
We are bringing back a holiday keepsake this year. Our second-ever “Holiday Recipe Book” will be included in our Nov. 22 edition of the News-Record. We want to share some of our favorite holiday family recipes with you, our readership family. And we’d love for you to share some of your favorites with us.

Please send us your favorite holiday recipes to publish in this special edition that will hit newsstands at Thanksgiving. Whatever the recipe -- Grandma’s pecan pie, your aunt’s sweet rolls, Dad’s famous fried turkey -- if your family loves it, others will too.

You may send recipes to Jessica at [email protected]. Please include your name and contact info. Feel free to also include any short stories or anecdotes that make your recipe special. We’d love to share them with the community. Deadline is Nov. 11.

Send us your Santa letters
The News-Record has long published Letters to Santa from local youngsters. This is a tradition Jennifer and I are thrilled to continue.

This year’s Letters to Santa edition will publish on Dec. 20. We open submissions to all area children third grade and under.

Each of the local elementary school campuses will be hearing from us, as will the local daycare facilities. We’ll send them forms that the kids can use to craft their letters.
But we want to hear from everyone.

Maybe you home school, or your kids are in an alternative school setting or they aren’t in school yet and don’t go to daycare. Whatever the case— their letters are welcome.

If your child does not receive a Santa letter submission form at school, please send them directly to us.

Those letters can go to Jessica at [email protected]. Please include child’s first name and age/grade. Deadline is Dec. 9.

We hope you take these opportunities to share some holiday cheer. Projects like these serve to bring the community together and enrich your seasonal parties— as well as those of your neighbor.

God bless you and yours and here’s to a memorable and special holiday time.
