The Whitesboro Lady Cat and Collinsville Pirate cross country teams are on to the State Meet after standout performances at the Regionals earlier this week.
The Whitesboro girls’ squad will make its sixth straight State appearance next month in Round Rock.
They finished fourth overall Tuesday in the regional race held in Grand Prairie with 125 total points.
Quitman came in third with 117, district rival Pilot Point took second with 106 and Eustace took first with 89 points. Lady Cat runner Audrey Beam took fourth place overall with 12:09.
Karen Melchor was 23rd in 12:47. Reagan Downs was 25th in 12:51. Jasmin Hernandez was 38th in 13:07. Tammy Lopez was 54th in 13:27. Winley Turpin was 59th in 13:32. Sydnie Duhon was 88th in 14:20.
On the boys’ side, Bearcat runner Zander Brannan came in 45th overall with a time of 18:56.
The girls’ State Meet will be Saturday, Nov. 2 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
In 2A, Collinsville earned 151 points to finish third behind first-place Windthorst with 83 points.
Waco Meyer was the runner-up with 120 points. Haskell took fourth with 167 points.
Junior Isaiah Smith led Collinsville with a time of 18:11.56 and was 20th overall. Bryan Hailey was 25th in 18:20. Fernando Perez was 26th in 18:22. Austin Caldwell was 39th in 18:56.
Gavin Russell was 54th in 19:39. Brandon Cantu was 68th in 20:03. Chad Davidson finished 84th in 20:33.
The Lady Pirates placed ninth in the team standings. They were led by freshman Zoey Kays, who was 39th in 13:37. Reese Patterson was 63rd in 14:02.30. Jaydee Matlock was 66th in 14:03. Ashleigh Ortowski was 68th in 14:04. Roxy Stovall was 79th in 14:22. Paige Davidson was 121st in 15:15. Kim Perez was 141st in 15:48.
The Class 2A State Meet is at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock on Friday Nov. 1.
