Cedar Mills Marina & Resort held its 23rd annual Safety Seminar and Fly/Splash-In last weekend. More than 80 pilots attended the weekend-long event.

Registration began at 3 p.m. on Oct. 18 with attendees flying, boating and driving in from all over. That evening, attendees enjoyed a complimentary social hour and open forum with industry professionals.

Saturday consisted of various forums and educational seminars presented by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), aviation instructors and representatives of aviation equipment, manufacturers and avionics and aviation industry experts.

That night, attendees enjoyed an Octoberfest dinner at Pelican’s Landing Restaurant located at the marina. The all-you-can-eat feast was $30 per person and included beer, wine, tea or soft drinks. Commercial airline captain Brian Schiff was the featured speaker.

Sunday morning kicked off with a pancake breakfast before pilots departed the air strip.

This event was sponsored by the FAA, Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team and Cedar Mills Marina & Resort.

For the past 23 years, Cedar Mills Marina & Resort has been attracting event attendees with their one-of-a-kind airstrip. Not only is it 3,000 feet long, but it is regularly maintained to ensure pilots have the best experience possible.

The marina also provides deluxe cabins located right on the airstrip, providing pilots with their very own fly-and-stay experience. Event attendees are welcome to book a cabin or camp beneath their plane’s wing. Either way, they’re sure to enjoy a beautiful view of the lake.
