Letter to the Editor

Source: Freepik.com

Dear Editor,

I want to start by saying I’m a weekly reader and thoroughly enjoy articles from every staff and contributing writer you have.
I write you in reply to your recent “From the Publisher” article, “A Matter of Full Disclosure.”

I have attended and spoken at several council meetings both in opposition and praise of agenda items, and guess what, I ended up in the paper.

The news would be awfully boring if the report was about that guy in the corner at the meeting who never spoke and wore a green sweater.

I read the articles mentioned and criticized you referred to, and in my opinion they were a straightforward, unbiased presentation of facts, exactly as I have become accustomed to from the News-Record.

Have Ben and Colby been mentioned? Sure, but they have been active and vocal also, not just on Facebook, but in a public meeting.

That’s the way you are heard both in person and in print, not standing there like a cigar store Indian at a meeting or being the 103rd snarky comment in a Facebook post.

Keep up the good work, and thank you for keeping us apprised of the local news.

I encourage people to get out, attend meetings, join social clubs, check on their neighbors. Don’t just be in the community, be a part of it.

Sincerely,
Coley Wade
Whitesboro, Texas
