On Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, deputies responded to the area of Preston Bend Park Road in Pottsboro, Texas, for a possible boating accident.
Deputies received reports that a boat had run aground at a high rate of speed in this area. It was reported there were multiple passengers and at least one had sustained injuries.
Once deputies arrived on scene, they found fire and EMS workers there tending to the passengers. Texas Parks and Wildlife was on scene conducting an investigation of the crash.
The operator of the boat was identified as Justin Kent Flores, 50, of Pottsboro, TX. Deputies noticed Flores was exhibiting signs and behaviors consistent with being intoxicated. After an investigation, Flores was taken into custody for Boating While Intoxicated.
One of the passengers sustained injuries during this collision while Flores was operating the vessel under the influence. Therefore, Flores was also charged with Intoxication Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Flores was taken to the Grayson County Jail, where he was booked in and posted $21,500 bonds.
