The Collinsville Community Library has a variety of community events planned for the month of October, and everyone is invited.
On Wednesday, Oct. 2, 16, 23 and 30, the library will host Children’s Book Club (ages four and up) at 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Oct. 2, 16 and 30, the Chess Club will meet at 4 p.m. (The club is open to players of all ages.) On Wednesday, Oct. 23, the library will host a kids’ art activity for children aged six to 18. The project will entail painting a Halloween picture.
Every Friday throughout the month, the library will host Story Time for children aged 0-3 years old.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the library will host local author, Tammy Oveross, at 4:15 p.m. who will be sharing her book, “Cucumbers to Pickles.” Oveross will have a few copies of the book on-hand for purchase, or it can be ordered in advance on Amazon.com. This is a free event.
The following day, adults can enjoy Bingo from 6-8 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 17 the library will host Literary Café from 7-8 p.m. Similar to a book club, attendees share books they've been reading individually and give each other ideas for what to read next. Occasionally the group will select an author and read the book of choice by that author. Attendees then discuss his/her writing styles. Everyone aged 16 and up are invited to spend an hour discussing books.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the library will host “Get Your Affairs in Order,” an educational workshop to help prepare for end-of-life planning. The class begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be led by Becky Burtner.
Then, on the evening of Halloween, the library will host Book or Treat from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Children are invited to spin a game wheel and win either a book, candy or a glow stick.
All of these events are free. With so many activities happening at the Collinsville Public Library, there’s something for everyone during the month of October. Save these dates and plan to spend some time at the local library.
