Whitesboro High School Bass Team Wyatt StJohn and Cason Vessels (with former WISD bass member Carson Hickman as captain) earned top honors in a recent Texas High School Bass Association tournament (Metroplex Division). The team placed third overall with a total capture of 14.34 pounds.

StJohn caught a 10.11-pound bass that qualified him for the ShareLunker Program and earned him Big Bass of the tournament. As a result, he earned a replica of his catch (to be awarded at the ShareLunker banquet this year), a $500 scholarship from Gilchrist Outdoors as well as Costa glasses.

Any bass weighing over eight pounds that was caught at this tournament is able to be enrolled into the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Toyota ShareLunker Program.

StJohn is the first student from WISD to ever catch a bass and be entered into this program.
