Next weekend, October 4-6, Muenster, Texas, will welcome thousands of visitors to its 12th Annual Oktoberfest.
This three-day festival, hosted by the Muenster Chamber of Commerce and held at Heritage Park Event Center at 301 N. Ash Street, is the area’s most well-known German celebration. Attendees enjoy delicious authentic German food (from mouth-watering sausage to scrumptious apple strudel) and a host of fun, family-friendly activities.
They can also participate in the lederhosen/dirndle contest, stein hoisting competition or Wurst Race (5K and half-marathon). Visitors can test their strength with axe throwing, ride the mechanical bull and visit the Kids’ Zone with face painting and entertainment for the children.
Vendors will be on-site selling a host of wonderful items, and attendees can purchase commemorative items like steins, koozies and pins.
Two stages will provide constant entertainment all weekend long, from traditional German dancers and musicians to amazing cover bands, like Double Vision – The Foreigner
Experience, Texan Fool – The John Mellencamp Experience and Journey of a Lifetime – The Journey Experience.
Don’t miss the Tapping of the Keg on Saturday at noon and stay into the night for a jaw-dropping drone show.
“We have something for everyone,” Chamber Director Lilly Palmer said. “Come out and join in the fun!”
Hours for the event are Friday, 4-10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission is just $5 per person (children 12 and under, and anyone wearing complete ethnic German costume, get in free) and parking is $5 per vehicle.
