Employee recognition and bond project plans were on the docket at the Sept. 9 Whitesboro ISD Board of Trustees meeting.

Employees receiving recognition for the month of August included Eric Littleton, Ashley Drake, Parker Garrett, Lyndzey Scarbrough, Haley Ross, Pam Drake, Kayla Riley and Dabree Grady.
Mary O’Brien of WRA Architects presented updates to the school bond project construction plans as well as long-range planning and education specifications. The board voted unanimously to accept the plans and move forward to the design phase.

Additionally, the board approved an update to LOCAL policy CDA relating to Bond Proceeds investments.

On October 9, 2023, the Whitesboro ISD Board of Trustees approved Construction Manager-Agent as the project delivery/contract award method for the 2024 Bond Program Construction projects.

However, after further consideration of “best value,” WISD administration officials have decided to reconsider the project delivery/contract award method for the Multi-Purpose Building and Agri-Science Arena projects from Construction Manager-Agent to a Competitive Sealed Proposal method. During last week’s meeting, the board approved this change. The district will also add two new “Bond” bank accounts with First State Bank and add signature cards for Superintendent Ryan Harper and Assistant Superintendent Ryan Prock.

Also at this meeting, WISD Police Chief Aaron Scott introduced and swore-in new Reserve Officer Shane Shirley, who will assist the department at upcoming district events.

The board agreed to an increase in adult meal prices throughout the district, as recommended by the Texas Department of Agriculture. For adults only, lunch prices will be $5 and breakfast prices will be $3.50.

The district will purchase two passenger vans (in the amount up to $60,000) that will hold 15 passengers.

Regarding upcoming proposed road construction, the board approved Lincoln Engineering for engineering purposes.

Lastly, administrators and principals gave reports on current events in their departments and on campuses.
