Hayes Primary and Whitesboro Intermediate schools celebrated Grandparents’ Day by inviting families to attend a special lunch at the schools last Thursday and Friday.
Guests enjoyed a delicious meal of chicken spaghetti or spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic toast, green beans, cake and iced tea prepared by Whitesboro ISD Food Service staff. Meals were just $5 per guest and free for Veterans.
Volunteers from PTO helped to serve food, direct foot traffic and sat with children whose family may have been unable to attend the event.
After their lunch period, students could be checked out of school by their family to enjoy the rest of the afternoon together.
“We love this event. It’s so great to see the looks on the kids’ faces. They’re so proud to have their families here,” Hayes Primary School’s Dean of Students Suzanne Peters said.
Grandparents’ Day was Sunday, Sept. 8.
