Bearcats top North Lamar
Whitesboro Bearcat underclassmen answered the call on both sides of the ball Friday night and came up with 48-25 season opening win at home over Paris North Lamar.
Sophomore quarterback Colt Fagan completed 15 of 20 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns.
He also rushed nine times for 31 yards and a touchdown. 
Brayden Bomar landed five catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns. 
Levi Weddel rushed seven times for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Camden Stephens rushed 13 times for 85 yards and landed a pick-six on defense. 
Mason Scarbrough recovered a fumble for a touchdown, and Tripp Howard two interceptions. 
The scoring began with Rhet Rudzinski making a diving catch in the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown, followed by Bomar catching the two-point conversion to give the Bearcats an 8-0 lead.
North Lamar answered with a touchdown of their own, but Scarbrough then forced a fumble at the Panthers’ 10-yard line. The ball rolled back into the end zone, where Scarbrough pounced on it, extending the lead to 14-7.
North Lamar made it interesting early in the second quarter when they closed the gap to 14-13. 
But Fagan answered by connecting with Bomar for a 39-yard touchdown.
He then scored on a one-yard keeper just before halftime.
The Bearcats went into the intermission up 27-13.
The second half started with another Bomar touchdown on a 34-yard reception that extended the lead to 34-13 early in the third quarter.
The Panthers narrowed the deficit to 34-19 later in the fourth, but the Bearcats responded quickly with a 21-yard touchdown run by Weddel.
Stephen’s interception capped off the scoring extending Whitesboro’s lead to 48-19 midway through the final quarter.
North Lamar added one last score, but it was too-little-too-late. 
The Cats look to extend to 2-0 on the season as they travel to Bells tonight. The Panthers are coming off a 35-32 loss to Pottsboro last week.

Battle of the Bridge Trophy stays in C’ville 
The Collinsville Pirates beat the odd-makers last week when they topped the heavily favored Tioga Bulldogs 40-13 in the road. 
Sophmore Pirate quarterback J.J. Jenkins completing 23 of 25 passes for 226 yards and five touchdowns.
Three of those were hauled in by junior Cash Morgan.
Morgan finished the night with 103 yards on 11 receptions. 
The Pirate defense answered the call as well. 
Chad Davidson led the attack with two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six. 
He also caught a touchdown pass and recovered a fumble. 
Senior Garrett Trevino rushed six times for 53 yards, two catches for 31 yards, and a touchdown.
Landry Spivey added 92 yards on 20 carries for Collinsville.
“We told ya’ll we were coming to play,” Pirate head coach Garrett Patterson said. “We told everyone.”
Austin Norwood had five receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown for Tioga. 
Jonathan Hernandez rushed seven times for 44 yards and the other Tioga TD. 
Senior Johnny Dorpinghaus rushed for 94 yards on nine touches.
Quarterback Rocky Urich completed 18 of 29 passes for 147 yards with a touchdown.
He also threw two interceptions. He also rushed 12 times for 32 yards. 
Collinsville’s win over their neighbors to the south is a third in row for the program. 
They prepare to host Cooper tonight. 
The Cooper Bulldogs are coming off a 27-12 loss to Grand Saline last week. 
Tioga’s loss leaves the fifth straight in a season opener for the Bulldogs. 
Tioga is set to play at Ponder tonight. 
The Lions are coming off a 61-0 win over Venus.

Rams come up short in Oklahoma
The S&S Rams were able to put together some offense last week, but still came up short in a 31-15 final at Comanche, Oklahoma. 
Ram quarterback Hunter Courville had eight carries for 45 yards and a touchdown.
He also threw for 125 yards and a TD.
Joe Orr caught four passes for 76 yards and a score. 
Kenny Melton rushed for 83 yards on 10 carries. 
Elisha Gentry had two catches for 28 yards.
The Rams will host Prairiland tonight. 
The Patriots are coming off a 36-0 win over Tishomingo.

Lady Cats down Tioga, Collinsville 
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat volleyball team ended Sherman-Denison Tournament last week on a high note with a 25-18, 25-15 victory over Tioga.
They went 7-2 record in tournament play.
The Lady Cats were 13-5 going into the Callisburg Tournament starting on Thursday, Aug. 27. 
They also left Sherman with a 25-20, 25-23 win over Denison and a 25-19, 20-25, 11-15 loss to Prairiland.
They opened Tourney play with a 20-25, 25-18, 21-25 loss to Collinsville, a 25-23, 19-25, 25-23 win over Commerce and a 25-23, 25-23 win over Anna.

Lady Pirates fall to Pottsboro
The Collinsville Lady Pirate volleyball team ended the Callisburg Tournament with a 25-20, 25-17 loss against Pottsboro over the weekend in the consolation bracket.
They previously opened bracket play with a 25-16, 25-22 loss against Callisburg.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Pirates lost 25-21, 25-16, 26-24, to Saint Jo.
The entered this week 9-15 on the year and played at Valley View on Tuesday.
Result were not available as of press time.

Lady Rams top Tioga
The S&S Lady Ram volleyball team took Tioga to five sets on Tuesday, Aug. 27 and rallied to a 3-2 win (22-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19, 15-12) in non-district action.
The win took the Lady Rams to 7-9 on the year going into the Nocona Tournament over the weekend.

Lady Pirates lose to Little Elm
The Collinsville Lady Pirate volleyball team ended the Sherman-Denison Tournament last week with a 25-21, 25-22 loss to Little Elm.
They also had a 26-24, 25-14 loss to Whitewright and a 25-23, 17-25, 11-15 loss to Wolfe City on the final day of tourney play.
