The Whitesboro Elementary Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) is in need of volunteers for the 2024-2025 school year.
Serving the students, teachers and families of Hayes Primary (HPS and Whitesboro Intermediate Schools (WIS), the PTO foresees a variety of needs for volunteers in the coming year.
From helping navigate traffic patterns on school picture days to making copies for teachers at the schools to sitting and reading with students in the classroom, there are numerous ways volunteers can help the organization succeed.
“Signing up to become a PTO volunteer doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment,” PTO President Jessica Edwards said. “Whether you can only contribute one hour the whole year, or can be at every function, we’re grateful for any help we can get to make it a great year for our teachers and students.”
Volunteers can be parents, grandparents and members of the community. Whether people work full-time or have daytime hours available, there’s room for everyone to help out the organization.
The PTO will host a Volunteer Informational Meeting on Wed., Sept. 18 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Hayes Primary Cafeteria.
This come-and-go meeting will allow community members to learn more about volunteer opportunities and ask questions about how to be part of the success at Hayes Primary and Whitesboro Intermediate Schools.
“The PTO benefits our students and teachers in several ways, from fun events and activities to taking some of the workload off our teachers’ plates,” Edwards said. “We really rely on the help of our volunteers to make a big impact in small ways.”
With new principals at both schools, the PTO is excited about the opportunities and possibilities for the coming year.
“Mr. Hammock [at HPS] and Mr. Worley [at WIS] both welcome the PTO into the schools and are eager for us to help out this year. With their support, there’s a huge potential for this to be a really fantastic year. It’s a great time to join the PTO!”
