Saturday, August 10 marked the sixth Keep Collinsville Beautiful (KCB) Memorial Brick installation event in the Collinsville downtown square around the flagpole.  Members and brick donors gathered at 7 p.m. to remove blank bricks and replace with newly engraved ones in their designated space.

Since the program’s inception in 2016, following KCB’s first TxDot Governor’s Achievement Award which afforded renovation of the entire square, a total of 268 bricks have been placed, purchased by area residents and inscribed as they wish.

Although many bricks honor family members, they are engraved with a variety of business names, sayings and phrases, making for an interesting walk around the square to view them all.

“Each brick becomes part of Collinsville history and the story will continue as long as there is space in the square,” KCB President Betty Graham said. Bricks are ordered when 10 order forms are completed with payment to KCB.

Currently bricks are reserved at $50 each, including the desired inscription, up to three lines at 13 characters each. Funds are allocated toward KCB’s growing number of scholarships given to Collinsville graduates. (Four scholarships were awarded this year.)

To reserve a brick, message the KCB Facebook page, or contact project chair Patty Roberts at [email protected]
