The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the transfer of complete ownership of KGAF from First IV Media to Eberhart Broadcasting.

KGAF, a radio station based out of Gainesville, has been owned by First IV Media since 1974. At that time, high school student Steve Eberhart (of Eberhart Broadcasting) was working for the station.

Eberhart left the station in 1976 and had a long career in Dallas radio, television and network radio. In 2008, he returned to purchase a portion of ownership and has managed the station since then.

Eberhart purchased the remaining portion of ownership of First IV Media from the Klement family and, just recently, the FCC gave final approval of transfer of ownership to his company.

“I would like to sincerely thank Richard and Mary Klement for their support over the years and their decision to pass the full ownership to me,” Eberhart said. “They have been terrific partners and overwhelmingly helpful in our efforts to bring quality hometown radio to the Cooke County community.”

Under his ownership, Eberhart aims to continue to provide the community with a first-class radio station serving the area with news and information, sports, entertainment and public service above and beyond – a goal he’s had throughout his entire career.

“I would like to thank the many people who helped make that possible all these years,” Eberhart said.

“Dee Blanton, Melanie Brown, Janice Williams, Bill Turner, Johnny, Darin Allred, Clay Corbett, Jerry Metzler, Zayne Schoffield, engineers Charles Staples and Louis Sutton and a host of others along the way who’ve shared my passion to make KGAF the ‘best little station in Texas.’ I’m excited to move upward and onward.”
