Whitesboro resident Nancy McLaughlin (pen name N.L. McLaughlin) has recently released her latest novel, Tricksters. The book has earned a Reader’s Favorite award for its high reviews.
This fast-paced horror novel takes place in a Texas desert town and follows four friends on a road trip that results in mystery and misfortune.
“I liked how the story allowed me to relate to each character…The outcome was not what I expected, but that made it much better for me because I enjoy unexpected endings,” Reader’s
Favorite reviewer Cloie Belle Daffon said. “This book has now become one of my favorites.”
Tricksters is N.L. McLaughlin’s fourth novel and first horror-themed work to be published. Her first novel, American Nomads, was released in June 2021. Set among the modern-day counterculture of train hopping, this thriller has been compared to Steinbeck and Faulkner by reviewers. The series of four books was completed in December 2023 and has a loyal following.
McLaughlin is currently working on Feral, a follow-up to Tricksters, that will be released later this year.
While McLaughlin has lived in Whitesboro for the past five years, the North Texas area has been her home for more than two decades.
She has served in the United States Marine Corps, where she met her husband of 31 years. Together they raised six children who they homeschooled. McLaughlin is the owner/founder of Dragonfly’s Hollow, a Waldorf-inspired toy making company that specializes in simple, wooden children’s toys.
Dragonfly’s Hollow began in 2008 and grew to become the number one maker of Waldorf-inspired toys in the United States.
Tricksters is currently available on Amazon, Goodreads and all major booksellers. For more information, visit www.nancymclaughlin.com.
