As summer winds down, area school districts are preparing for the coming school year with back-to-school and meet-the-teacher nights on August 12. These events not only provide an opportunity for students to see their classrooms, get to know their teachers and meet their classmates, but they encourage families to bring school supplies so the classrooms are ready on the first day of school.
In Whitesboro, Hayes Primary School will hold its meet-the-teacher from 4-5 p.m. Whitesboro Intermediate School will hold its event from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Teacher assignments will be mailed to families ahead of time.
S&S Elementary School will hold its meet-the-teacher night from 5-7 p.m. Teacher assignments will be posted on the school’s front door the night of the event.
Collinsville Elementary School will hold its meet-the-teacher event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. At the high school, students in grades 6-8 will meet their teachers from 6-7 p.m. Students in grades 9-12 will not have a meet-the-teacher event, but can pick up their schedules at the school from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (Students must be registered online to do so.) That night, there is an athletics parents meeting for students in grades 7-12 at 7 p.m.
The first day of school for each of these districts is Wednesday, August 14.
