It’s hot outside, but fall sports are just around the corner. The Whitesboro Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) is conducting registration for its youth soccer and youth volleyball leagues.
The soccer league is available for children ages 4 to 9. The volleyball league will include two different age divisions: girls in the 3rd-4th grades and the 5th-6th grades. Registration deadline for both is Friday, August 9 at 5 p.m. The fee for the soccer league is $50 and the fee for volleyball is $70. A family discount is available -- $5 off the total amount to be paid for two children participating or $10 off for three children participating.
There is also a scholarship program to assist with fees. To learn more about scholarships and possible payment plans, call the PARD at 903-564-5964. To be eligible for a scholarship, you must apply before the registration deadline. There will be no scholarships given after the deadline.
Scout day for soccer is Monday, August 19 at the Wilson Street Soccer Complex. Scout day for volleyball is Tuesday, August 20 at Hayes Primary Gym. Times for various age divisions may be found on the department’s website.
Registration forms are available at the Whitesboro Community Center at 400 Wilson St., and at the department’s website at www.whitesboro.org/pard. Registration forms and fees should be turned in to the Whitesboro PARD at 400 Wilson St. or at PO Box 340, Whitesboro, Texas 76273.
Teams will begin practicing in early September, and the league games will begin in mid-September. Games will be played in Whitesboro on Saturdays. Soccer games will be played at the Community Park Soccer fields on Wilson Street next to the Community Center. Volleyball games will be played at the Hayes Primary and Intermediate School Gymnasiums.
