66th Annual WRC Rodeo draws record crowds

The 66th Annual Whitesboro Riding Club (WRC) July 4 Rodeo drew more people than ever before.

This year, the addition of new bleachers provided seating for 300 more people. The stands were at near capacity Friday and Saturday nights.

From bronc and bull riding to mutton bustin’ and barrel racing, rodeo fans enjoyed hours of entertainment at the arena. Friday’s weather couldn’t have been more perfect, with temperatures in the 70s. The exciting evening ended in a spectacular fireworks show.

Saturday’s events were also thrilling, and attendees witnessed the crowning of Rodeo Queen Mikayla Lee, Princess Scarlet Engle and Buckerette Jolee Sheppard. Dana Mathis was named Miss Congeniality and Magnolia Sheppard was named Most Improved.

The WRC and its annual July 4 Rodeo have been part of Texoma’s culture and tradition since 1958. The club is a family-friendly organization sponsoring royalty contests, play day series, barrel races, riding clinics and other fun local get togethers.
