Whitesboro Chamber honors citizens, businesses with awards

Whitesboro Chamber honors citizens, businesses with awards
Surrounded by her family, Amber Parish displays her Citizen of the Year award.

Author: Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce

Each year, the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce forms a committee to nominate and vote on members who are worthy of becoming award recipients.

Although these awards are usually presented at an annual banquet, the chamber will not be holding a banquet this year. Therefore, committee members have been making the rounds and presenting these awards in person.

The recipients of this year’s Humanitarian Award are Michael and Rachel Hinsley for actively promoting the welfare of the community and its citizens. From donating their time with youth through cotillion and leading as positive role models, their dedication, generosity and service are recognized and appreciated by all.

The Business of the Year award recognizes a business that exemplifies qualities of excellence, service innovation and creativity in the community. This year’s recipient is 4U Credit Union for helping local small businesses grow and show their full potential to making countless donations to help with all aspects of the community.

The Citizen of the Year award is presented to an individual who consistently displays civic leadership through volunteerism and service to their community. This year, Amber Parish was presented this award for years of constantly putting others (and the community in general) in front of her own personal needs. From manning booths, selling tickets, lending a hand and coaching youth sports, there isn’t much that goes on in our community that Parish doesn’t play a role in.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dee Welch. He was an attorney in Whitesboro for 39 years, helping families and children through good times and bad. As City Attorney, councilman and mayor, Welch led the town for 22 years. He was instrumental in moving the Rodeo Arena to Highway 82, getting surface water from Lake Texoma allocated for Whitesboro, and more, Welch has always kept Whitesboro’s best interest at heart.

The Outstanding Community Service Award was created to honor people who are making significant contributions to their community through their time, actions, talents and dedication to the betterment of our community. This year’s recipients are Kyle and Carolyn Maynard, chosen for their passion for helping others in our community.

Congratulations to these award recipients, and to all of the members of the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce who contribute to the success of our community.
