On Tuesday, May 28 a multitude of children gathered at the library from 10:30 a.m. to noon for the start of this year’s Whitesboro Public Library summer reading program.
The theme for this year is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”
Library Director Lara Blair greeted all in attendance with enthusiasm and excitement for the program. She said the program would be filled with lots of opportunities for children to read, win prizes for completing reading logs, enjoy wonderful entertainers throughout the program and have lots of fun.
Although the rain kept everyone inside for the first two days of the program, it sure didn’t keep them from the fun. Each child received a name tag and a passport that will be stamped each day they attend the program while learning about a different country every time.
The first two days were filled with face painting, balloon making, an awesome magician, reading time and ice cream for children to take on their way home.
This year’s summer reading program is offered to children 10 and under. It will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon until June 27. The best thing is, it is absolutely free for all registered children.
