At Monday’s Southmayd City Council meeting, City Secretary Amanda McGill swore-in the newly-elected City Council.

Mayor Debra Thompson and alderman Teresa Miller, Matthew Tanner and Mark Everett took the oath of office. They will join Mayor Pro-Tem Michael Horstman and alderman Tom Byler. Alderman Robert Thompson did not run for re-election for this term.

“It’s been a pleasure and an honor,” Thompson said to the council. “I just felt I needed to step down for awhile.”

The council took their seats at the chamber and the meeting was adjourned before coming to order as the current City Council. At 6:15 p.m., the first-ever meeting of the new council was called to order.
