The Collinsville City Council annexed land and made way for new houses at Monday night’s regular meeting.

After the appropriate public hearings were held and questions answered, the council agreed unanimously to annex, zone and approve the plats for two different pieces of land.
The first of which is a 1.144 acre tract on Pearce Street, north of Elm Street. The property owner, Tasha Reed, asked to be annexed into the city. The council agreed.

They also zoned the lot as single family residential and agreed with Reed’s plan to re-plat the property into three different lots. Reed said she will build three new homes on the property.
Council also annexed 7.911 acres owned by Ryan Patterson, dba Old Town Partners. The land is situated east of Old Town Road and north of FM 902.

Patterson told the council that this annexation will complete the last phase of an existing housing addition and will tie Windhaven Farms together with a street that is planned to eventually empty onto FM 902 just west of the First Baptist Church.

In other business Monday night, council:
•    Approved the appointment of Melissa Scott to the Collinsville Economic Development Corporation (CEDC).
•    Approved a $20,000 CEDC budget amendment to cover expenses incurred by Civic Connection Group for the development of a CEDC Comprehensive Business Plan.
•    Approved the canvassing of votes cast in the recent city council election. A special meeting to canvas votes was held Tuesday night.

The council also entered executive session briefly to consult with the city attorney about pending litigation. According to the meeting agenda, council discussed a pending lawsuit “City of Collinsville, Texas v. Jeff Thomas Polley, Cause No. CV-24-1037, Grayson County Texas. 397th District Court.” No action was taken.
