Tioga OAP finishes fourth at Regionals

Tioga OAP finishes fourth at Regionals

Author: Tioga Theatre Department

Tioga High School’s One Act Play journey ended on Thursday, April 25 with a fourth-place finish at Regional Competition.

Under the direction of Haley Hertel, Tioga gave a brilliant performance of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.” The play was written by Kate Hamill, but was adapted from the novel of the same name by Jane Austen. Though it follows the novel closely, it has more modern language and jokes.

The competition took place at Grayson College in Denison. Tioga competed with Rivercrest and Alba-Golden, whom they competed with at Area, and were joined by De Leon, Hamilton and Hico. The two advancing schools were Hico and Rivercrest, who will be going to State.

Though Tioga did not advance, they did receive several awards and placed in the Top 16 in the state. Lacie Gray won Best Performer for the whole region. Alivia Hall and Kai Goree were awarded All Star Cast. Kendal Kearns received Honorable Mention.

“While we are a little brokenhearted it didn’t end the way we would’ve liked,” Hertel said, “we are still so proud of each and every student and the work they put in to get here.
“Be sure to make plans to attend our final public performance on May 6, as we say goodbye to ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ Congratulations to our friends from Hico and Rivercrest; go represent our region at State.”
