The GFWC History Club of Whitesboro hosted a birthday celebration for Liz Morelan at FUMC Wesley Hall on Friday.
Morelan, who turned 103, has served as an outstanding citizen of Grayson County, especially the Whitesboro area. She has been a member of Keep Whitesboro Beautiful, is a current member of the History Club, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce and has served as Grand Marshal for the Peanut Festival parade, to name a few of her accomplishments.
When asked her secret for a long and happy life, Morelan said, “I’ve never smoked. I never drank. I eat right. Basically, I’m just a dud, but that’s worked for me!”
The birthday reception included an array of light bites, tea and, of course, cake. A special thank-you goes to the family, friends and members of the community who gathered to shower Morelan with cards and affection.
