A birthday party is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 19, for Liz Morelan, who is turning 103 years old. The party, which is being hosted by the History Club of Whitesboro, will be held in the Wesley Hall of the First Methodist Church of Whitesboro.
For the past several decades, the delightful woman that everyone calls “Liz” has served as an outstanding citizen of Grayson County and especially of the Whitesboro area.
She has received numerous awards over the years from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) of which the History Club of Whitesboro is a part, as well as from the History Club itself. She is a life member of the GFWC Trinity District. She also was active for several years with Keep Whitesboro Beautiful.
When turning about 100 years old, she was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce, and also served as grand marshal for the Peanut Festival parade. Within the past two or three years, she has survived Covid twice, has had pneumonia and a broken hip. Still she is able to smile and loves being with her many friends, which include some of the leaders of Grayson County and the city of Whitesboro.
The public is invited to come by and wish Mrs. Morelan a happy birthday. Refreshments will be served. Those who wish may bring a birthday card or letter.
