The Collinsville ISD Board of Trustees held its regular monthly school board meeting on March 25, 2024. The board held a budget workshop for the 2024-2025 school year. The topic of the budget workshop was employee pay and how pay raises could affect the budget for the next school year. The board approved a teacher pay scale and a support staff pay scale for the 2024-2025 school year.
With the new pay scale, a beginning teacher at Collinsville ISD (CISD) will make $45,500 compared to the $41,230 a beginning teacher made this school year. Teachers in years one to 16 will see an average salary increase of $3,145 from the 2023-24 year to the 2024-25 school year. Teachers in year 17 and up will see the step increase that was on the previous pay scale.
The district increased the hourly rate from $12.14 to $14.17 an hour for beginning support staff employees. The support staff pay scale tops out at year 22, where these individuals will see an hourly increase of $17.59 to $18.78 per hour. Some support staff members will see a $3,000 increase in annual earnings.
Also, for the 2024-2025 school year, the Board of Trustees approved the Academic Calendar and created two elementary teaching positions. The start date for the 2024-25 school year will be Wednesday, August 14, 2024, and the last day of school will be May 23, 2025.
Additional teachers are needed because of the growth seen at the elementary school. At the end of the 22-23 school year, the district had 275 students in pre-K through fifth grade. Currently, the district has 302 students enrolled in pre-K through fifth grade, an average increase of four students per grade level. The district currently has 47 students in both first grade and fourth grade.
In other business, the CISD board of Trustees accepted Derrell Ragsdale’s resignation. The board did not take any action on filling the vacant seat.
The board approved the minutes from the February 26, 2024 Board Meeting and the monthly financial report. The next CISD board meeting will be held on April 8, 2024, at 8 p.m.
