NTMC retains 5-star ratings

NTMC retains 5-star ratings

North Texas Medical Center (NTMC) in Gainesville is proud to announce that the hospital has retained its five-star ratings for both Overall Star Rating and Patient Survey Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

NTMC was awarded five stars in both categories in July 2023 and received word recently that the hospital has earned five-star ratings for both again in 2024. Only eight of the 284 acute-care hospitals in Texas achieved this recognition. Six of the eight hospitals who earned a five-star rating in both areas are specialty hospitals, such as Heart and Vascular, Surgical or Orthopedic facilities.

That leaves NTMC and Hill Country Memorial as the only full-service, acute-care hospitals in Texas to achieve such high honors.

“I am humbled to be a part of such a great hospital.” NTMC CEO Tom Sledge said. “Thank you to all our staff, providers, leadership team and volunteers for your commitment and dedication to excellence.”

The CMS Overall Star Rating ranges from one to five stars, with more stars reflecting higher performance. Obtaining a five-star rating is achieved by earning the highest scores across a range of quality measures and patient satisfaction metrics.

The CMS Hospital Compare tool evaluates five key areas to calculate overall ratings. These areas are patient outcomes data such as mortality, safety of care and readmission rate, combined with direct patient feedback on patient experience and the effectiveness and timeliness of care.
