Egg-cellent options for area Easter celebrations

Egg-cellent options for area Easter celebrations
The OneChurch Whitesboro Easter egg hunt has become so popular, the event moved last year from Trollinger Park to Godwin Park to be able to host more people.

With Easter Sunday just a week away, many churches and organizations in the area are holding egg hunts and family-friendly activities in the coming days. If you’re scrambling for some fun ways to celebrate Easter with the kiddos, consider exploring these nearby opportunities.

This Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m., the recently re-opened Whitesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center (1204 Sherman Drive) will hold a free Easter egg hunt at their facility. Enjoy cotton candy and juice and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. This event will be fun for all ages.

Also on March 23, the Collinsville Area Chamber of Commerce will host a free Community Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. at Pelphrey Field (the old football field behind the library). Bring your camera for free photos with the Easter Bunny and have fun hunting for 3,000 eggs.

First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro (122 S. Union Street) will hold an afternoon of fun on Sunday, March 24 at 11:30 a.m. A hot dog lunch will be served in Wesley Hall, followed by a series of Easter egg hunts staggered by age group. The first hunt will begin at 11:50 a.m. for toddlers-first graders. The second hunt will be held at noon for second-fifth graders. Registration for this free event is required at https://shorturl.at/noAV8  for food headcount. No check-in needed. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

On Saturday, March 30 from 2-3 p.m., OneChurch Whitesboro will hold their annual Easter egg hunt at Godwin Park (400 Wilson Street). The event is free, and children of all ages will have an opportunity to hunt for over 8,000 eggs. Enjoy food, photos with the Easter Bunny and fun hunting for special prize eggs. This event is a local favorite. Email [email protected] with questions.

Area Easter festivities aren’t just for kids. Whitesboro’s downtown stores will hold a Hop Down Main shopping event on March 30. Visit stores to seek eggs with coupons and treats inside. Enjoy a cotton candy machine, popcorn machine and photos with the Easter Bunny. Watch for more details to be posted on social media.

Dixie Baptist Church (Hwy. 377 N in Whitesboro) will host a sunrise resurrection service on Easter Sunday. Join the congregation on March 31 at 7 a.m. for this special service, followed by a free breakfast and Easter egg hunt.

If you’re looking to host your own egg hunt for your family, consider supporting the Whitesboro Independent School District (WISD) Class of 2024 with their “Egg My House” fundraiser.
Hunts will be available to local families Easter weekend, March 29-31. For a fee, high school seniors will hide eggs containing candy, Easter jokes and trinkets in your yard for your family to find.

Prices start at $25 for 30 eggs. Please register and pay for the hunt at https://forms.gle/Lku4pPG4bzVErCPL6 by March 29 at 4 p.m. All proceeds benefit WISD Class of 2024.
