WHS, S&S One Act Plays advance to bi-district
S&S Theatre competes this year with "It's All in Your Head."

On March 8, local schools competed in the district One Act Play competition.

Under the direction of Marylee Carney, Whitesboro High Schol put on a brilliant performance of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Rabbit Hole.” The play tells the story of a family whom, immediately following a death, tries to move on with their life. The main focus of “Rabbit Hole” is showing different ways people move on with life after tragedy.

At this same competition, Sadler’s S&S High School performed “It’s All in Your Head.” The play was written by S&S theatre director Channon Gibson, along with Annette Skupkin. It tells the story of a boy named Michael who, after readmitting his schizophrenic mother, wonders how to deal with all the stress of the situation.

He spends most of his time alone and is suffering severe headaches that have been bothering him for months. He meets a girl named Lily, they form a bond and she convinces Michael to see a doctor. The play deals with life plagued by mental struggles, and how to cope with them.

Three awards were presented at the district competition. Lexis Belcher was awarded Best All-Star Crew. Savannah Ringger was awarded Best All-Star Cast. Dylan Vickrey was awarded Best Performer.
Seven other schools competed at the district level. Both Whitesboro and S&S (along with Valley View High School) will be competing at the bi-district competition later this month.
