Keep Collinsville Beautiful (KCB) will hold its annual Recycle Day on March 10 from 9 a.m.-noon in the library parking lot at 409 E. Woodland St.
All area residents are encouraged to bring anything that is recyclable or re-sellable to this location.
Since its inception in 2011, recycling has been a high priority for KCB. In its first year of activities in 2011, KCB was instrumental in encouraging the City of Collinsville to incorporate a curbside recycling program which went into effect in early 2012. At that time, Collinsville was one of the only small towns in Grayson County to have such a program.
Since then, KCB has sponsored numerous recycling events and has been instrumental in encouraging the residents of Collinsville to participate in any way they can. In 2018, KCB began contracting with Bubb Fundraising, a recycling business out of Dallas, to conduct an annual recycle event.
Each year, Bubb Fundraising brings a truck to collect as much recyclable material as possible in a three- to four-hour period.
Bubb’s will accept almost anything that is not considered hazardous. They are especially interested in any kind of electrical or electronic devices, working or not. It is a great way to dispose of any old phones, computers, video games, etc. An itemized list of collectable items is posted on page 10 of this issue of the News-Record.
At the conclusion of the event, KCB will be given a check for all the items collected. It is a highly beneficial opportunity for residents to discard their unwanted or unneeded items while simultaneously helping to raise funds for KCB’s future beautification efforts.
Additionally, it benefits the environment by diverting these items from the local landfill while saving the city money for solid waste disposal. Clean your garage, your closets or other outbuildings and bring those items to the truck on March 10.
