As I was contemplating my life’s mission one evening, the enemy whispered, “You will never have another original thought.” As I started to lament the possibility, Holy Spirit answered so clearly: “You don’t need an original thought, you need a God thought!”
How many times do we go in circles with our own thoughts, from our own flesh, that don’t lead to life? They are like a ring in the nose of a giant bull that allows him to be led in any direction that the leader desires.
The bull can be stronger, bigger, faster, but he has no power over the one who leads him by the nose. I too, have been led around in circles, wanting to get off the path that led to nowhere, simply because I was following my own thoughts of waste and destruction. I desire to be led by the thoughts of God, that lead to real transforming life.
I have authority in life that has been given to me by Jesus, the creator of all life. But if I lay down my authority to agree with an enemy who wants to subdue and control me, then I have willingly submitted to his dominion.
I can cry out and ask God to rescue me, and He will rescue me, but it will be by empowering me to stand in the authority that I already have. I must choose to take the ring out of my nose and stop believing and agreeing with my enemy.
His grace will enable me to move off this path, but I must believe Him and take a step so that He has something with which to partner.
We do the thing in the natural, and He adds the super. Just as God asked Moses, “What do you have in your hand?” He is saying to us, “Give me something to work with.” When Moses stretched out the staff in his hand, God did the miraculous with it. He will do the same for us!
Let’s stand up and remove the ring of lies and deception that the enemy is feeding us daily. Let’s stop listening to his whispers, leading us into doubt and self-recrimination. Let’s stop relying on our attempts to problem-solve and listen for Holy Spirit’s voice of truth.
