On Wednesday, Feb. 7, three Whitesboro High School student athletes signed letters of intent to become student athletes at the college level.
Maci Graves committed to National Park College in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
“I really like the atmosphere and the city itself. The coaches and everyone were so welcoming,” Graves said.
Graves will play softball for the Nighthawks and major in criminal justice.
Senior Olivia Hildebrand signed her letter of intent to join the track and field team at West Point Military Academy.
“I’ve always wanted to be in the military,” Hildebrand said. “I got a text from the track coach and began the long process of applying to West Point.”
When asked how she feels about committing to West Point, Hildebrand said, “It’s unreal.”
Hildebrand plans to major in kinesiology to fulfill her dream of becoming a surgeon.
Melanie Baldwin signed on to play softball at West Texas A&M, where she will major in finance.
“My dad played there, so it’s always been a dream of mine,” Baldwin said.
She chose this particular school because it reminded her of home.
“Family culture was important to me when choosing a college,” Baldwin said. “West Texas A&M felt like it was the first place I saw that could be a second home.”
