News-Record launches website

Grayson county's oldest newspaper unveiled a new means to communicate local news last week.

According to publisher Austin Lewter, the Whitesboro News-Record launched its first ever comprehensive news website.

“I believe there was a crude website here some years ago,” Lewter said. “But that was before my time and I have been involved with the paper off-and-on for 15 years now.”

Lewter said the News-Record partnered with 4media, a European company with offices in Nevada.

The company specializes in community news websites.

“They have been great to work with all along the way and the product is wonderful,” Lewter said.

“The Lewter family bought the News-Record in June with the stated goal of launching a website.

“This has been a long process, Lewter said. “But we have seen it through and we are excited about this opportunity. More and more, people have news coming at them from all directions and it's hard to discern what is news and what is not. We are thrilled to offer this option to help quell some of those misunderstandings.” The website will be used for breaking news and updated daily.

“This will complement our already award-winning printed edition,” Lewter said. “For now, readers can access all online content free of charge. There is no paywall implemented at this time. Eventually there may be a paid option for the website, but right now we just want you to look at it, visit it, interact with it and get up to speed with what's going on in our community.”

He said, the website is a work in progress and the News-Record staff is still exploring avenues to maximize user experience.

You can visit the new site at www.whitesboronewsrecord.com

“We encourage you to add it to your bookmarks,”Lewter said. “Check in daily and let us know how we can use it to better serve you.”
