The Whitesboro Parks and Recreation Department (PARD), together with Happy Dave Blaylock, will sponsor their 16th Annual Father/Daughter dance on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m.
This special Valentine event will be at the Jimmie O. Rector Community Center.
Girls of all ages are invited to attend with fathers, uncles, grandfathers, mentors or friends. Girls are also invited to ‘share a dad’ with a friend that wouldn’t otherwise be able to come.
PARD Director Penny Renfroe explained, “We just don’t want to see any little girl left out, so if she doesn’t have someone in her circle that she feels comfortable inviting, perhaps she would feel at ease coming with a friend and ‘sharing’ her dad.”
Discounted tickets may be purchased before the event. Tickets are available at the PARD until Wednesday, Jan. 31 for $8 per couple and $4 per extra girl.
Renfroe said, “We are excited to offer an opportunity to avoid the long line on dance night by purchasing tickets ahead of the event.
“The pre-sale tickets are available at the PARD during regular office hours, so come on by and get your tickets now.”
Admission fee at the door is $10 per couple and $5 for additional individuals.
This year’s theme is Winter Wonderland. Attendees can expect a beautifully decorated winter atmosphere, great music (provided by Happy Dave), refreshments and an opportunity for great memories.
There will be a photographer at the dance to take pictures and post them on the department’s Facebook site.
Additionally, moms desiring to take photos will be welcome after 8:30 p.m.
“It’s so special for little girls to know that they are daddy’s little sweetheart.  This event provides a great opportunity for dads, or granddads or uncles, to have a date with their special little girl that’s all about her and making her feel loved and treasured,” Renfroe said.
“It’s a rare gift when dads get to dote on their daughters and make them feel beautiful and special.”
Renfroe said, “This event has been such a huge success in the past. We look forward to seeing all the dads and their sweet little girls.  This is a wonderful way to honor the little Valentine sweethearts.”
Anyone wanting additional information may call the PARD offices at 903.564.5964 or visit www.whitesboro.org/pard.
Pictures from previous dances can also be viewed on the Whitesboro Parks and Recreation Department Facebook site.
