Bearcats even on the week
The Whitesboro Bearcat basketball team lost 49-36 to Ponder at home last week before bouncing back to top Callisburg on Friday.
Max Hinsley led the Cats with 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in the 57-47 win over Callisburg.
Brayden Bomar had 13 points, three assists and three steals.
Jack Hinsley offered in eight points and three rebounds.
Jacob Knight and Dax Martin each tallied six points.
The win took Whitesboro to 15-9 on the year and 4-1 in district.

Rams top Valley View
The S&S Ram Basketball team was up and down over the past week.
They topped Valley View 56-48 Tuesday, Jan. 9 before falling to Ponder 82-29 on Friday.
Hunter Courville led the Rams with 16 points against Valley View.
Brayden Turner finished had 14 points. Joe Orr had 13 points.
In Ponder, Turner scored 14 points. Orr added five points for S&S.
The loss took the Rams to 6-16 on the year and 1-4 in district.
They traveled to Whitesboro Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Bulldogs beat Chico
The Tioga Bulldogs claimed the second-place district seed with a 75-59 win over Chico Tuesday, Jan. 9.
The win took Tioga to 6-11 on the year and 3-1 in district and tied with Alvord in the standings ahead of the district bye on Friday.
They hosted Alvord on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Pirates beat Knights
The Collinsville Pirate basketball team went up and down over the past seven days with a loss to Muenster and a win over Lindsay.
They fell to Muenster 52-50 on Jan. 9.
Carter Scott led the effort with 11 points, 18 rebounds and four assists.
Landon Carpenter added 11 points.
Colin Barnes had nine points and six rebounds.
Chad Davidson offered eight points and four assists.
They bounced back Friday to beat Lindsay 63-49 at home
Scott was on fire in that bout with 29 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Carpenter had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Barnes had nine points.
Davidson offered six points, four assists and three steals.
The win took Collinsville to 6-10 on the year and 3-2 in district.
They had the district bye on Tuesday, and they travel to Era tonight.
Lady Cats top
Callisburg
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat basketball team made a statement with a 52-13 win over Callisburg Friday night.
The win took Whitesboro to 5-2 in district and they moved into a second-place tie with S&S and Ponder.
The Lady Cats hosted S&S Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Lady Rams in three-way tie
The S&S Lady Rams ended the first half of district play Friday night on the road with a 42-35 loss to Ponder.
They dropped to 5-2 in district play and into a three-way tie for second place with Ponder and Whitesboro.
The Lady Rams played at Whitesboro on Tuesday night. Results were not available as off press time.
Lady Pirates edged by Lindsay
The Collinsville Lady Pirate basketball team came up three points short in a 50-47 loss to the Lindsay Lady Knights on Friday.
Collinsville was 4-2 in district ahead of a bye on Tuesday.
They will travel to Era tonight.
